Bowen Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

This is another very good vintage of Bowen Estate's cabernet sauvignon.  It still tastes youthful, and would benefit from a further few years in the cellar to reveal its full charms.  Its aromatics are a pure fruited expression of blackcurrant, chocolate and earth.  The palate has warmer climate Coonawarra cabernet notes of dark olives and soy with good length and structure.  It's at the top end of the alcohol range (15%) - alcohols crept up around this time - but it handles it well with a roast.  (Alc: 15%, Region: Coonawarra, Rating: Very Good, Would I buy it based on this tasting? Yes, Drink: 2020 to 2025, Tasted: Apr, 2017)
