Villebois Sauvignon Blanc Val de Loire 2014

This is a fresh and light sauvignon blanc from the Loire Valley and the appellation of Touraine.  Touraine is the most important of the Loire Valley wine regions, and the appellation labelled as such covers some 3,600 hectares under vine and a large variety of soils.  White Touraine is most important here, and must be made substantially from sauvignon blanc.  This wine from Domaine Villebois is a 100% sauvignon blanc.  Its alcohol is only 11.5% abv, but it manages to pack a lot of flavour in.  It has aromatics of gooseberry, florals and lemon.  The palate is fresh, clean and has good length on the finish.  Bottled under screwcap.
