Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

This is a particularly good cabernet sauvignon from Duckhorn in the Napa Valley.  We don't see enough Napa cabernet in Australia in my humble opinion.  Price is undoubtedly a big factor as these wines aren't cheap to begin with and the AUD is not great at the moment against the USD.  The region is however a first rate cabernet reference point in an international sense that ought not be overlooked, and personally I love the style.  This wine does not appear to be available in Australia at the moment, but it looks like some of its siblings may be if you dig around.  The 2012 vintage tasted here has aromatics of blackcurrant, cedar and licorice.  It is tightly wound in expression, full bodied and has long length.  Both delicious and serious cabernet.
