Huntington Estate Shiraz 2011

Huntington Estate's 2011 shiraz is quite a good release.  The grapes are all estate grown, and you sense the wine has seen some care in the winery.  It has aromatics of pepper, plum, licorice, cedar and coconut.  The palate is an exercise in plum, pepper and cedar, with the finish a little drying.  The wine sees 30% new oak, and I think dialled back even further, it could move up a rung to be really rather good indeed.  I would give this another 5 or so years in the cellar to soften up and integrate, and I expect then the result will please.  Good
