Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon 1998

I've tried a few Domaine A cabernet sauvignons now, the '98 here joining the '06 and the '01.  Overall, I am impressed.  Cabernet sauvignon remarkably is able to ripen in the Coal River Valley in Tasmania, and this producer appears to fashion one of the most complete Australian expressions of a left bank Bordeaux style.  The 1998 vintage here is medium bodied, balanced, has towards long length and lovely blackcurrant and leafy characters, without being vegetal or unripe.  More cru bourgeois superiéur than blockbuster, it is excellent drinking.
