Tarrahill Shiraz 2012

Tarrahill is a small estate of 16 acres in the Yarra Valley owned and run by the Hamer family.  I am quite impressed with Jonathan's 2012 shiraz.  The estate has generally sold off its shiraz grapes (first planted in 1990) to others.  Its aromatics remind of earth, Christmas cake spices and the oak is very well integrated.  The palate has some lovely fleshy extract on the mid palate, and has mostly red fruit flavours of red plums and cherry.  This is quite a refined shiraz and has a harmony and resonance that is appealing.

Rating: Very Good, Abv: 13.4%, Price: $30s, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: http://www.tarrahill.com/, Tasted: 2014
