Cockfighter's Ghost Shiraz 2013

Cockfighter's Ghost in the Hunter Valley here turn their hand at a McLaren Vale shiraz.  The fruit appears picked and trucked over the not insubstantial distance from the McLaren Vale to the Hunter Valley where the wine is made.  Its aromatics remind of ripe plum, dried prune, roasted fig and wood spice.  The palate is balanced with gentle length and not quite full throttle fruit through the palate, and fades a little.  A four cylinder engine in a six cylinder body perhaps.  It's an enjoyable wine nonetheless.

Rating: Acceptable to Good, Abv: 14.5%, Price: $22, Source: sample, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: http://www.cockfightersghost.com.au, Tasted: 2014
