Kilikanoon Kavel's Flock Shiraz 2013

A recent look at Kilikanoon's top flight offering, the Oracle, led to an inevitable curiosity.  Would the cheaper stuff be good too?  The answer in this case is, happily, a "yes".  From the Barossa Valley, the 2013 vintage of "Kavel's Flock" from Kilikanoon has aromatics that remind of bouquet garnis, peppercorn, wet thyme and plum.  There's medium length on the palate, some pepper, spice and real balance, with textural tannins.  This is easy to recommend.

Rating: Good, Abv: 14.5%, Price: ~$17, Source: sample, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: http://www.kilikanoon.com.au, Tasted: 2014
