Ross Hill Cabernet Franc Merlot Isabelle & Jack 2012

I fear with wine labels such as these that I am being asked to pass judgement on the proprietor's children or pets!  Here, fortunately for me, the wine is a good one.  It's from the seldom sighted (in Australia) blend of cabernet franc and merlot, that of course being the classic blend of Bordeaux's right bank.  The wine here has cooler climate characters than a typical Saint Émilion though, with aromatics of clove, tobacco, mint and cedar.  The palate has flavours reminding of plums and dried tobacco, length is between medium and long and the finish is nicely crisp.  Overall, this is a balanced wine that is suitable for drinking now.

Rating: Good, Abv: 13.5%, Price: $25, Source: sample, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: http://rosshillwines.com.au, Tasted: 2014
