Domaine de Périllière Costières de Nîmes 2011

This wine from Domaine de Périllière in the Costières de Nîmes, an appellation in the south of France that is effectively the western extension of the southern Rhône Valley, is a very good find.   A blend of syrah and grenache, it has attractive and brooding aromatics of currants, plums and dark cherry.  The palate has flavours that remind mostly of dark cherry and plums.  It is framed by quite long length, has good depth of flavour and a pleasing chalky texture.  This is an easy wine to recommend.

Rating: Very Good, Abv: 14%, Price: $27.50, Source: sample, Vendors: http://www.cesoirwine.com/, Website: n/a, Tasted: 2014
