Guigal Côtes du Rhône 2010

Guigal's Côtes du Rhône is a reliable favourite.  The 2010 vintage is mostly a blend of syrah (49%) and grenache (48%) with a splash of mourvèdre (3%) from vines that average 35 years old.  The result is good as usual.  It has savoury aromatics of cherry, raspberry and plum skins.  The palate has short to medium length and the flavours of cherry and raspberry carry through.  A very balanced wine that offers enjoyable day-to-day drinking.

Rating: Good, Abv: 14%, Price: $20, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: http://www.guigal.com/en, Tasted: 2014
