Buying direct from Australian producers

I read with interest of a new initiative to allow producers of Australian wine to sell their wines directly over the internet in one place, where the sale proceeds go directly to the wine producer.  It is the initiative of a Victorian philanthropist, John Cameron, and has been developed with the support of the Winemakers' Federation of Australia.  The website for the initiative is  I think the website and concept is a nice idea for small producers and those wanting to diversify local distribution channels, and I hope it succeeds.  I have a soft spot for the small producers out there producing high quality wine and regional styles, but very much struggling to get attention.  If it takes off, it has the potential to tap into the local farmers' market ethos, namely the ability for the consumer to directly support high quality producers and propogate their own virtuous circles.  Time will tell.
