Katnook Estate Merlot 2005

Katnook Estate produce one of the better Australian merlots in my humble opinion.  I am of the school of thought that merlot has some potential in this country, and have written before on its somewhat undeserved mixed reputation.  You can read more about that here.  Looking back over the site, I very much enjoyed the 2001 vintage of Katnook Estate's merlot some years ago, and the 2005 vintage tasted here is equally worthy of your interest.  Garnet in colour, it has aromatics of dusty cedar wood, blackcurrant and blackberry.  The palate is balanced with long length and resounding flavours of blackcurrant and ripe plums.  This is quite simply delicious drinking.

Rating: Very Good, Abv: 14%, Price: $41.90, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: https://www.katnookestate.com.au, Tasted: 2014
