Montalto Hawkins Hill Chardonnay 2012

Montalto's Hawkins Hill chardonnay is from a single vineyard in the lower reaches of Red Hill.  The 2012 release is a pale intensity lemon in colour and opens to muted and developing aromatics of lemon, yellow grapefruit and white nectarine.  The palate has medium-high acid, some lactic characters (yoghurt in particular), restrained butter, medium length, and flavours of lemon, yellow nectarine, salt and perhaps a minerality.  This is a good quality chardonnay due to its balance and evidence of some complexity.  Good
