Xanadu Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Xanadu's cabernet sauvignon from the 2011 vintage is tightly wound and a little closed at this point in its life.  It's a deep intensity purple in colour and has light intensity aromatics of clove, earth, bay leaf and underlying expressions of blackcurrant, plum and mulberry.  The most compelling feature of this wine is its length, which is medium to long.  It is otherwise a full bodied wine with flavours reminding of cedar, clove and blackcurrant.   Like the 2010 vintage reviewed here, this wine sees 40% new French oak.  This is overall a good quality release, and I found the attractive fleshy cabernet fruit interwoven into the finish of the wine of real interest.  This wine will possibly rate higher in a few years time, and I would suggest leaving it until then.  Good
