Chateau Haut-Chaigneau Lalande de Pomerol 2010

I admit I wasn't entirely expecting a Lalande de Pomerol to weigh in at 15%abv, but the wine was good anyway and the sort of style I like and can't find a local equivalent of.  The 2010 vintage of Chateau Haut-Chaigneau's Lalande de Pomerol is a blend of 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc, and is a deep purple in the glass.  Aromatically, it has developing notes of earth, blackberry, anise, licorice, cedar and bay leaf.  On the palate, the tannins are fine grained, the wine medium bodied, and flavours of plums and cedar, with a bit of heat evident.  Its finish is towards long.  Overall, this is a good wine due to its quite long length and complexity of flavours.  The balance wobbles a little with the alcohol, but I think it gets there.  Good
