Wendouree Shiraz 2011

Wendouree's 2011 shiraz is another successful wine from a difficult vintage in the Clare Valley region. It has aromatics of brooding plum, refined and integrated oak and some chocolate characters.  The palate shows a cooler season expression of the shiraz grape, with notes of pepper, spice, undergrowth and some attractive texture with a mix of chalky and fine tannins.  This quite savoury offering from Wendouree is of quite some immediate appeal due to its balance, good length and savoury characters.  It's another success from a lesser vintage from an outstanding producer.  In lesser vintages, good producers always seem to find a way.  Very Good
