Monument Vineyard Verdelho 2011

Verdelho can be unremarkable as a dry white table wine, but I think this wine shows some interest for the grape variety and it's fairly keenly priced at $10 per bottle.  Bright in the glass, it has aromatics of dried pineapple, pear juice and green melon.  The palate is dry, with medium acid and length, and is quite slippery in texture, rather than formed.  Flavours of mixed dried fruits and green melons carry through.  Overall, this is a balanced and is certainly a pleasant and well made rendition of dry verdelho.  Acceptable to Good
