Bilgavia Estate Blanc de Blanc 2012

I don't see a lot of sparkling wine from the Hunter Valley, but this one, a first release from Bilgavia Estate, and made from 100% chardonnay, was of some interest.  Its bubbles are medium in size, and persisted for some time in the glass.  Aromatically, it has a restrained expression of green apple and some very light yeast notes can be found too with a bit of effort.  The palate is dry, with quite high acid, a creamy mousse, medium length, and has reticent minerally notes of rocks, stones and light lemon citrus.  A touch of yeast covers well the prominent acidity.  Overall, this is a quite enjoyable and balanced sparkling wine that is ready to drink now, with some hints of complexity.  Good
