Wendouree Cabernet Malbec 2010

No website, no social media, no worries.  I suspect a winery of Wendouree's reputation and sold out mailing list doesn't need to be accessible by such means, although whether it would be nice from a consumer point of view might be debated.  The more I taste of these elusive wines of Wendouree, however, the more I think that they are worth the effort in searching them out regardless.

The 2010 cabernet malbec is a case in point.  Bottled under screwcap (I did not expect that, but then it is the Clare Valley), bay leaves, blackcurrants, cloves and spice make up its aroma.  On the palate, fine young and grippy tannins, more bay leaves, long length, and tightly wound clove and black fruit flavours are present.  The wine can be consumed now with a good decant, but it would appear to have at least 10 years ahead of it, and I expect it will improve from here.

Rating: Very Good to Outstanding, Abv: 13.7%, Price: towards $100, Vendors: http://www.wine-searcher.com/, Website: n/a, Tasted: 2012
