Château Mont-Redon Chateauneuf du Pape 2007

375ml wine bottles fill that sometimes sensible space between a glass of wine and a bottle, often with the added bonus that they mature a little earlier too.  If only there were more on restaurant wine lists.

This particular wine from Chateauneuf du Pape in the southern Rhône Valley in France is a cracker.  It has a savoury, attractive aroma of delicatessen meats, thyme and cinnamon spiced red plums.  The palate shows some lovely texture and length, which edges towards being pronounced, with slightly chalky but resolving tannins providing a lovely backdrop.  Highly recommended.

Agree with your recommendation, was the wine my wife and I had with a French dinner on the first night of our honeymoon last week. Fantastic!
