Mount Pleasant Maurice O'Shea Shiraz 2007

I don't get to try a lot of Hunter Valley shiraz, which is a pity because I like them.  Not many seem to make it to Melbourne, apparently.  This wine is very good.  It has an aroma of leather, plums and pepper.  Typical Hunter Valley.  The palate is similar (minus the leather), with good length.  89 points.

Abv: 14.8%
Price: $60
Would I buy it having tasted it? Yes

  1. I have the same problem, ie finding Hunter Valley wines in Melbourne. Not had the Maurice O'Shea, but I really enjoyed the 05 and 07 Rosehill.

  2. Glad, sort of, that it's not just me. Strange isn't it? This Maurice O'Shea 07 is certainly worth your while. What I'm really after though are those HV shirazes in the $20s that really sing without, well, being required to for their price (unlike say a $60 wine). I know they're out there ...
