Jim Barry Clare Red Shiraz Cabernet 2006

At eight years of age, this entry level blend from Jim Barry provides rather irresistible drinking.  It has a satisfying balance, weight and depth that the faintly illegitimate but joyous warm climate blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon can bring.  Yet at four years of age, this same wine fell short of the mark, with some balance issues.  Quite which one is the real Jim Barry Clare Red Shiraz Cabernet from the 2006 vintage might be a question to ponder.  If the price were $40, that is.  At its current price, it is well worth the risk.
